Bass Fishing…in North America

Bass Fishing is a fantastic and very popular sport. I grew up on Bull Sholes Lake in North West Arkansas fishing with my Dad. I wouldn’t change those memories for anything in the world. He taught me and showed me how to fishbut especially for bass. We would even go fishing at night with lights thrown over the said of the boat. And fish until the wee hours of the morning. Usually, two boats tied together fishing.

I remember eating Viena sausages and crackers with a Coke on the boat….his favorite things to bring with us. Oh, we had other snacks but those were our standards.

Daddy and several other local men built the largest boat house (fancy cleaning stations, etc.) on Bull Sholes Lake; however, the core of engineers made them cut it into 3’s because of the size. All owners stayed next to each other so families could gather to picnic and fish together. There was also a great area for us kids to swim just up a little way from the docks where the water was deep enough to jump off the rocks.

I want to share a little bass fishing knowledge with you. and about a great new bass turtle lure we have found.

The Camas-Washougal area and along Government Island are good spots to prospect for smallmouth bass locally.
There isn’t anything more fun than bass fishing!

Bass fishing as effectively as a professional angler starts with mastering the basics

The process starts with finding the ideal bass boat or another suitable freshwater fishing boat. And you want to have the right geer

When considering bass fishing boats, remember that these are not all-purpose fishing boats. Bass Boat Designs have a low profile, maximized casting decks, and minimized seating, meaning that they won’t be the most useful boats for other activities. However, like any boat, you can do other things with them.

OWNERSHIP COSTS OF BASS BOATS

Bass boats tend to be more expensive than many other types of boats. The main cost will be the initial purchase price. Once you take ownership of a bass boat, the related costs are minimal.

Bass Fishing Tips: How to Catch Bass

5 bass fishing secrets from professional anglers who have proven their abilities in the tournament trails.

We have found some incredible lures that they call bass turtles. They are turtles that when used will attract the attention of bass because of their protective nature. You see turtles feed on fish eggs.

When you receive these bass turtles you will need to set up them before use. Very versatile on any type of hook depending on the type of fishing you are doing. And you can have them all ready to go before you head out to the lake, river, or ocean. 3-4 weight grip hooks, regular offset worm hooks, work well. They do not come with hooks in them but instructions are included.

Tips from Some Professionals…

1. Save Shredded Worms

“When your plastic worms get torn up, save ’em. Bass like to ambush wounded prey, so a beat-up worm is perfect to use, especially in shallow water.”

– Anthony Gagliardi, 2006 FLW Tour Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year

2. Red Fools the Fish

“In shallow cover—wood, stumps, clumps of grass—I like to use a spinner bait with a red or pink head, and a crankbait with red hooks. The red makes the fish think the bait’s injured, and they’ll bite at it.”

– George Cochran, 2005 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship winner

3. Skip Your Bait

“When you cast, stop halfway instead of following through, similar to a check swing in baseball. This makes the lure hit the surface of the water a few feet before your target, so the lure skitters over the water. It’s a good way to get under docks and other structures.”

– Mike Iaconelli, 2004 CITGO Bassmaster Classic champion

4. Keep Your Hooks Sharp

“I use a file to sharpen my hooks every time I catch a fish and before every trip. It takes 30 seconds. Bass have boney jaws, so a sharp hook is more apt to penetrate the fish.”

– Mark Zona, host of ESPN Outdoors

5. Look at Your Livewell Water

“When you put a bass in the livewell, they’re notorious for spitting up what they were feeding on. From there you can tell what color lure or kind of lure to throw the rest of the day.”

– Matt Herren, No. 2 ranked angler, 2006 Wal-Mart FLW Tour

Bass Boats for competitive fishing

Bass boats are often made with an eye towards competitive fishing. Things like large live wells (where you keep the catch alive during a tournament for catch and release after the weigh-ins), multiple fishfinders, fishing positions for two anglers. (in tournaments the competitors commonly fish in pairs). High-speed performance motors so you can beat the competition to the hotspots. However, these traits also make them effective fishing for many of the other species found in the lakes and rivers where bass are found.

One of the more unusual traits of a bass boat has to do with the deck layout. Since serious basses tend to fish in pairs, the entire foredeck and the aft-deck are each laid out for a single angler.t This limits the number of people you can take fishing.
