“Why” … Finding my why is a thought provoking statement. What is your why ?
Your “Why” is a statement of purpose that describes why you do the work you do and “why” you live the lifestyle you do. Sometimes called “a calling”, “conviction”, “mission statement”, “core source of your motivation”. No matter what it is a statement that describes who your are.
Values
Values are your code of conduct, your core beliefs, behavior that helps guide you.
Your Motivation and Passions “Why”
What gets you excited to work without having to give into external pressures of others? What action you enjoy and makes you feel satisfied.
Interests that constantly leave you wanting more. You want to spend more time experiencing them than you are currently able to do. Your strengths that are your natural abilities, your talents for work. Task that come easy to you and feel satisfying effortless actions. That is how I feel about helping people. That is why most of my career life has been helping seniors or their families make informed decisions. Talking and listening to their stories.
What made you chose to do what you are doing right now ? All the different types of work available to you, what made you chose this one ? Your why comes from within you. A feeling that compels you to do the work you want to do even if it requires short-term sacrifice. You will struggle of self doubt. Your loved ones might not support your decisions. You might suffer failures before you experience success but regardless you still feel the drive to pursue the work you really want to do because it gives you meaning. This work is an expression of your true identity. It is you “why”.
Money and Security
Money and security are the result of our work but it’s our “why” that fuels our work. Your why is the driving force behind why you want to redesign your lifestyle
My Personal Why
When asked what my “why” is and to write this I had to really think about what it is that drives me. And where did it come from ? Looking back I have always loved helping people and educating them. Most of my careers has been in doing just that. From banking to senior housing, from my parents flower shop to dental offices….but the pattern is that I was helping people and want to continually be learning.
I grew up in a small North Arkansas town, Harrison, Arkansas. My parents were handworkers owing a well know flower and gift shop. Both were state known designers. We weren’t rich but we were not poor…we were a working family. They worked long hours and all holidays.
As a child I had two adopted grandmother’s hired to “babysit”, housekeep and cook for my parents. They were ladies with no other family. No, my parents were not from money, they were just giving these two wonderful ladies a job and a family. Both were older in seventies and eighties when they started working for us. Both taught me life lessons from housekeeping, studies, cooking….etc.
Growing Up in Small Town
Growing up in this small community you knew everyone and they knew you. I started kindergarten with the same classmates that I had in my 165 graduating class from high school . Some I even went to college with. I was in a brownie and girl scout troop with the same 16 girls and same leaders all those years. After college I married and was able to travel the world with my husband and children until they started school. I would find work where ever we lived but it all came back to helping people. My favorite location that we lived was in St. Croix and St. Thomas and on each occasion I became pregnant !!! We lived in the islands on two separate occasions for a year. Later in life when I divorced I left the dental field (being in management in 3 different specialties) and went into senior housing industry. I went back to school to be certified to be an executive director which I did for awhile but my joy was working with the families and residents in marketing.
My Journey Lead Me Here
So how did I end up here ? It was what I call “a God” wink. I was not looking for anything and was working full time long hours. (60 a week often) Out of the blue I had a call from someone I had not heard from in months. (x-coworker). When I asked her what she was doing she told me about RRR247. She told me about blogging and that I could blog about senior housing. It was something I could do and still work fulltime. It started as a hobby. I was lucky enough to have joined in time for the Dallas meeting and thus it began. When the pandemic hit and I was laid off (after 7 years with that company ) it became a full time position. I put myself on a much faster track to learning.
I love what I am doing and the positivity of the company and people involved. There is more training than anyone can imagine and also someone to help me when needed. There are friendships with those we see on Zoom as if we’d known them all our lives. We support each other, we pray for each other, we love each other as a “family”.
My Why Vision for my future
My Why Vision for my future is to earn enough money so that I never have to worry about my future security. Enough that I have what I need or want for me, my children and grandchildren .To never have to worry about having enough money to pay bills or house payments ever again! To work from home and have my freedom to be me again. Spending time with family and friends. To travel to those places and do those things on my bucket list that I have not done. To live by a beach at least part time. But most of All to have enough money to leave a legacy of good works. I believe that “God wink” has led me here to do those good works for others.
The Most Asked Question of what I am doing
The most asked question that I get is can you making money? The answer is the money you make is dependent on how much time you invest in yourself. What you put in is what you get out.
The worst thing that you can do is compare your results with others.
Let me explain, if you are competitive in nature the need to do better than someone else will catapult you to work harder.
Comparing yourself to others is not what this business is about. You work your business at your own pace. If you require more, you do more. It is just that simple. The only way you will fail is to quit.
