The Best Kept Secret

What is The BEST Kept Secret?

Are you or your loved one a veteran?

Vets, there are benefits available. Are you in need of assistance? Did you know there is help?

Most families don’t!

The Government's Best Kept Secret

Deserve Care

Therefore, we owe our freedom to all Veterans who serve. Because they fight for the freedoms we enjoy. As a result, they serve, sacrifice their lives, and often lose time with their families.

Vet or their surviving spouses, 65 years of age or officially disabled if younger.

What is the service requirement? You must have 90 days in the military, plus 1 day during a declared war, to qualify for this benefit. However, the “Wartime date” requirement does not necessarily mean in combat or overseas.

Wartime Dates Are:

  • Mexican Border Period: May 9, 1916 – April 5, 1917
  • World War I: April 6, 1917 – November 11, 1918
  • World War II: Dec 7, 1941 – Dec 31, 1946
  • Korean Conflict: June 27, 1950 – January 31, 1955
  • Vietnam (In Country): February 28, 1961 – August 4, 1964
  • Vietnam (All): Aug 5, 1964 – May 7, 1975
  • Gulf War: Aug 2, 1990 – through a future date

The discharge status requirement is ‘No dishonorably discharged.‘

However, the Disability Status requirement states that they can be Eligible without a disability. Those who have a disability are paid a higher benefit rate

Standard 2026 VA Disability Compensation (Tax-Free Monthly Pay)

VA disability compensation is based on disability rating and dependent status.
These are official 2026 rates (adjusted with a 2.8{ad06c7539b01d6c7f6fb443d3d9e75f0d31a391001d08da89b468cb0cb01073f} COLA):

Pension (Means-Tested Income Support)

The Pension provides financial support to wartime veterans with limited income/ assets. These amounts differ from disability compensation and are income-based (not ratings-based). The Base Maximum Annual Pension Rates (MAPR) translate roughly to approximate monthly figures:

2026 MAPR Estimates (before income deduction):

  • Veteran alone: ~$17,441/year → ~$1,453/month
  • Veteran with spouse or one dependent: ~$22,839/year → ~$1,903/month Military.com
  • Two Veterans married to each other: ~$22,839/year → ~$1,903/month Military.com

Additional amounts apply if the veteran qualifies for Aid & Attendance or Housebound pension enhancements (which can raise the effective monthly benefit significantly). VA Loan Network

🔹 Survivors’ Pension & DIC (Surviving Spouses)

VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)

This is not a pension; it’s a separate survivor compensation for spouses of service-connected deceased veterans:

Survivors Pension

This is means-tested and varies:

  • Surviving spouse with one dependent child MAPR ~$15,309/year → ~$1,276/month VA Loan Network
  • Surviving spouse without dependent child MAPR ~$11,699/year → ~$975/month VA Loan Network

These amounts can increase if Housebound or Aid & Attendance criteria are met. VA Loan Network

❓ About Your Specific Numbers

You wrote:

  • Two Married Vets = $3,536 per month
  • Vet with one dependent (Married) = $2,642 per month
  • Single Vet = $2,229 per month
  • Surviving Spouse = $1,432 per month

Those sound like they may be projected pension ceilings (MAPR) or combined estimates for Aid & Attendance or Housebound enhanced pensions rather than standard disability compensation rates. But they are not reflected in the official 2026 VA published rates from VA.gov or Military.com. The official MAPR ceilings and DIC amounts differ substantially (e.g., over $3,900/month for a 100{ad06c7539b01d6c7f6fb443d3d9e75f0d31a391001d08da89b468cb0cb01073f} disabled veteran).
